Board Newsletter - January

The Woodrow Wilson Academy Board of Directors is currently planning the 2011-2012 Showcase Night. This is the annual program we use to showcase all the great things about WWA. This event also allows current and prospective parents to talk with the teachers they
may have next year and see what the classrooms are like. The 4th and 5th grade parents and students have an opportunity to talk to the middle school teachers and see all the exciting things WWA middle school has to offer. We are currently looking for volunteers to help with the 2011-2012 Showcase Night. We need the following volunteers:

Parents that attended a previous Showcase Night as a prospective parent
4th, 5th, and 6th grade parents
Individuals with an interest in marketing
General Volunteers

Board of Director 2011 - 2012 Meeting Schedule

We encourage all parents to attend at least one Board of Director's meeting a year, our meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 pm in the Spanish Room. Listed below is the 2011-2012 schedule. If you are unable to attend, the meeting packets and minutes are posted on the Board of Director's page on the Woodrow Wilson Academy website http://www.wwacademy.org/.

October 29th Woodrow Wilson Academy Board of Director's Strategy Session The WWA Board of Directors had a very productive strategy session on Saturday, WWA is in a great position for the future and we are excited about the opportunities we have to improve on an already outstanding school. We will be continuing the work we started in the strategy session in work sessions that take place prior to the monthly board meetings. The following groups will be meeting in November, please contact the assigned board member for more information.

The WWA Board of Directors hopes everyone had a great Winter break! We look forward to an exciting second half of the school year.

At the December Board of Directors meeting, Mr. Cutler with Cutler and Associates presented the results of the WWA financial audit. The audit was submitted as an "unqualified clean audit”. We are very proud of our financial team.

At the January Board of Directors meeting, there was a change made to the timing of the Board of Director's elections for 2012. We will be holding the elections earlier in the year.

There are 2 seats up for election this year, to be included on the ballot your letter of

interest and abbreviated resume will be due by Feb.1, they will be posted by February

14th. More information will be provided in a separate announcement.

The WWA Board of Directors annual Showcase Night will be January 18th from 6 pm to 7:30 pm. We encourage all students and parents to attend, if you have friends or family that are interested in having their child(ren) attend WWA next year, this is a great opportunity to hear about our school. The flyer for Showcase Night is included in this week’s Wildcat Weekly, you can forward it to anyone who is interested in WWA.
